Frequently asked questions
- How do I play?
- Find every word in the list. Words run in straight lines across, down or diagonally, and on the hardest levels some run backwards. Drag from the first letter to the last - or tap the first letter and then the last.
- Can I start from the last letter?
- Yes. Dragging from either end of a word works.
- What happens when I pick a wrong word?
- A soft red flash and nothing else. There are no penalties, no lives and no timer.
- I'm stuck - what can I do?
- Tap a word in the list, or use the hint buttons, to light up its first letter or find the whole word. Hints cost coins you earn by playing - or you can watch a short optional ad instead. Stars depend only on how many hints you used, never on time.
- What are the word meanings?
- When you find a slang word or a place, its meaning pops up - for example ARVO - afternoon.
- How do levels and packs work?
- Each pack has 20 levels that get bigger and trickier. Finish 10 levels in a pack to open the next one. Quick Play lets you pick any pack and size, and the Daily Puzzle gives everyone the same grid each day.
- Can I make the letters bigger?
- Yes. In Settings you can change the text size, switch on a high-contrast look, and choose how you select words.
- Do I need the internet to play?
- No. Aussie Word Search plays fully offline. You only need a connection for optional ads.
- Will I lose my puzzle if I close the app?
- No. Your puzzle is saved every time you find a word, so it is exactly as you left it. Uninstalling the app deletes your progress.
- Are there ads?
- There is a small banner along the bottom of the screen and optional video ads you can choose to watch for a free hint. There are no pop-up ads that interrupt your game.
- How do I report a bug or ask about my data?
- Aussie Word Search sends no progress or personal information to us other than an anonymous activity signal while the game is open - see our Privacy Policy for details. For bugs or any other questions, email us at [email protected].
