Frequently asked questions
- How do I play?
- Tap a pen to pick up the chook on top — if several chooks of the same colour are stacked on top, they all come along together. Then tap another pen to drop them in. You can only drop onto an empty pen or onto a chook of the same colour, and only if there's room (each pen holds 4). Tap the same pen again to put them back. The level is done when every pen is either empty or full of one colour.
- What are the grey "?" chooks?
- Those are mystery chooks, which start turning up from level 6. You won't know their colour until the chook sitting on top of them has been moved away — then they're revealed for good. A mystery chook never moves along with the chooks above it.
- Is there a timer or a move limit?
- No. Take as long as you like and use as many moves as you need. Undo and Restart are free and unlimited.
- I'm stuck — what can I do?
- Try Undo or Restart first — they're always free. If you'd like a nudge, Hint shows you a good next move, and Add pen gives you one extra empty pen for that level (once per level). Both cost coins, or you can watch a short optional ad to get them free instead.
- How do I earn coins?
- You earn coins for every level you finish, plus a bonus every 10 levels.
- Is every level actually solvable?
- Yes. Every level is checked by the game before you see it, so there's always a way through — including levels with mystery chooks.
- Does the game get harder?
- Yes — more colours (and more pens) are added as you go, and mystery chooks become more common. After a while the difficulty levels out, so you can keep playing at a steady challenge.
- Do I need the internet to play?
- No, Chook Sort plays fully offline. You only need a connection if you'd like to watch an optional ad.
- Will I lose my progress if I close the app?
- No. Your level, coins and settings are saved on your device automatically. If you close the app partway through a level, that level starts fresh when you come back. Uninstalling the app deletes your progress.
- Are there ads?
- There's a small banner along the bottom of the screen, and optional video ads you can choose to watch for a free hint or extra pen. There are no pop-up ads that interrupt your game.
- How do I report a bug or ask about my data?
